Well, this week without alcohol has been quite the success. I am now feeling completely healthy + miserable!
It’s not so much that I feel like I absolutely NEED a drink… though all this water is keeping my taste buds quite bored… but alcohol seems to be the keystone of all decent spontaneous social plans in NYC. What the hell am I supposed to do that DOESN’T involve alcohol? (or excessive eating? Or spending a fortune on entertainment?)
So the solution is, don’t go out.
I’m sitting here home, alone, and hating it. There’s nothing interesting going on at home, roommate is away, I can’t focus on additional work or reading, I can’t fall asleep, there’s little food around, and I want to lock all of my email/SMS/blog devices in a lead box until 7am tomorrow as they keep driving me crazy with their beeps and alerts and notifications.
I think I’d do great with a board game right now if I weren’t the only occupant of the apartment. This would have been a perfect quality time night to spend home with a girl. Maybe I should surf Match.com and go search for my board-game booty call.
