Sadder: Gawker Commenter or Tumblr meet-up? That’s easy. It’s a numbers game. Ignore the overlap (Blakeley, Brian Van, that red-headed guy, etc.) and the one that draws the most people is inherently worse.
What’s sadder: a bunch of old-farts trying to use Facebook and Tumblr (while being self-deprecating and laboriously dismissive), or same old farts gathering at Spitzer’s Corner several times a month to reminisce about early 90’s punk rock? If Springsteen started today this is what he would write about.
For the record, I maintain that the only bragging right that I have is that I cram my schedule better than almost anyone else… whether you succeed or you fail at what you’re doing, you might as well do as much of it as possible as often as possible. I’ve been to my fair share of shitshows (sometimes all shit and no show) but that comes with the territory. I may have been to The Magician a few times; you guys started The Magician.
