This is a cutter mattock. This is what I used yesterday to very efficiently take out half-soggy drywall from a previously-flooded apartment.  Trying to find a cheap one online via Amazon, but a decent one seems to go for about $46.  Tomorrow, I want to go to the Nuthouse (E29th and Third Ave) and buy a bunch of these to donate to Rodeo Bar (E27th and Third Ave) by 7pm so they can take them to the Rockaways for the relief efforts (thanks Soupsoup and antikris for the heads-up on that). $45-$50 per item is a lot to spend on hardware. I can afford one, but let’s get a lot of these. $10-$20 donations from a lot of people might add up to a bunch of these so that more than one person at a time can tear out that nasty drywall. (Alternately, if the Nuthouse has a budget version of these tools, a pool of money can buy more) So, I really want to do this, and if you want to help, find me at brianvan on gmail, or brianvan on Twitter, or brianvan on Facebook (I’ll even check my “other” box) or Ask/FanMail me here and I’ll try to find a way to make this happen.
