Love and Such

lovepuppy:

I want to take a second to talk about something I ping pong over all the time. Its the issue of love— finding a boyfriend/lover/partner.

A lot of people tell me “it’ll happen when you’re not even looking for it” and that totally conflicts with the rest of my theories on life.

I think you will things into existence. Energy flows where attention goes. It works with jobs, social things, phone calls, opportunities… so why isn’t it working with people, specifically men? Am I too specific? Do I want something impossible? Doesn’t someone else want to have the crazies?

I’ve never had a boyfriend that pursued me… I’ve always been hugely aggressive to get what I wanted. I made the first call, the first move, asked them out on the first date. I guess it could be because I like chasing more than being followed.

I also think I’m listening to too many love related episodes of TAL.

QFT. I agree 100% that romance needs energy and attention to succeed. A better quote for this scenario is, “The love you take is equal to the love you make.”

Considering that you have the right approach, there’s really nothing that you should do differently. I suppose, over time, your desires might change as your priorities shift. There’s nothing that anyone can say, reliably, to make that happen for you right now, but you’re young, out having fun, so why worry? You have to work with the positive energy from the people who appreciate you… and try not to obsess about some idea of a perfect romantic relationship that cannot be conjured up with self-help books, pep talks, extra martinis, etc.

And, just because I could not ignore the massive irony in this particular coincidence… it came up last night briefly in conversation at Media Meshing that there are a lot of really awesome Tumblr girls out there, but that Jessica is one of the most attractive - across the board, in personality, looks, and intelligence. She’s single, fellas!
