I saw that someone on my Twitter feed was suddenly rooting for the Giants, and I’d not even considered that person to be a sports fan, and it made me reassured for a minute because sometimes it’s lonely business being a NYG fan in Manhattan, among many circles of people whose only interest in the local teams is either to mock them for not winning or judge them for their payrolls. I thought, “It’s nice to have another fellow fan.”
Except then I saw that this person was rooting for the San Francisco Giants, which, given those circumstances, just made me more depressed about trying to be a local sports fan among the many hostiles. Like, “Ha ha, you didn’t think someone was rooting for your Giants, did you? Silly naive man!”

(Then again, I saw one of my followers note today that the New York Football Giants really can’t have a tremendous season this year or else our bandwagon overfloweth. Probably not in Manhattan, but in worse places. Like, suburban malls and high schools. To that I say, indeed, we should avoid any possibility of having to accommodate a large contingent of “pink hats”, and I am sure that Eli has a couple of backbreaking INTs left inside of him for the first round of the playoffs or that last, critical regular-season showdown against the Iggles. It’ll be what’s best for all.)
