I’m going to miss Gilly far more than anything Abby Elliott’s ever done, and that says a lot because a lot of people really don’t like Gilly. (I even admit that it doesn’t work without Will Forte, if it works at all.)
I’ve read so many interviews lately with now-very-famous entertainers who were rejected or quickly released by SNL over the years, and to that extent, even if I could name someone I think should be elevated to the cast or the writers, I wouldn’t wish the process upon them. Although the only advice I would have for someone who would consider such an offer: if you get on, become friends with Hader, Armisen, or Killam FAST. Those guys are gonna get skits on the air this year, and also I bet at least two of them will have left by 2014. Let everyone else fight for the 12:50am scraps, and ignore Sudeikis because he’s already checked out.
(Sorry, this is one of the things for which I’m gonna give myself a pass to be all nerdy and insidery when I have no right to be.)

You’re not wrong here. Sudeikis is gunning for that #1 spot — that Seth Meyers money. He knows he’s famous enough to tell them to fuck off if he doesn’t get what he wants.
