How To Use GMail To Organize Your Messages Better
One often overlooked feature of GMail is the “star” label. You can use the star label to highlight messages that are of particular importance, allowing you to focus on those messages while avoiding distractions in your Inbox. Here’s how to get the most out of this feature:
- Open GMail and check your Inbox
- Find the most important messages
- Click on the “star” icon next to the important messages
- Close GMail, go back to Tumblr
- Reopen GMail and check your Inbox
- Find the most important messages that are not already labeled with a star
- Click the “star” for any messages that need one.
- Repeat for 6 years, occasionally looking in your “Starred” folder and having mild panic attacks about all the shit you should have been doing instead of playing

- Steal wifi on your laptop that is now 3 years past its prime
- Complain that you work too hard and never have any time
- Blame all of your missed deadlines on that time GMail was down for 1/2 hour
- Declare email bankruptcy by deleting all the messages and going back to “Inbox zero”
Congratulations! Isn’t your email process a lot simpler this way?
