Grynbaum time again, but not a transportation article. (Want to see good transportation reporting? Streetsblog released a multi-part series today talking about how Governor Cuomo is mismanaging the Tappan Zee Bridge replacement project.

This article can be summarized as, “Mayor reads book”. It reads like an Onion piece. You start to wonder, after a couple of paragraphs, if the premise of the article is that you’re an asshole for reading it.

The Times has far better topics to address than this. It’s not promising that they employ writers who think to pitch this shit, which is shit on any given day. And Grynbaum, never shy to be a bike cynic (figuring it fulfills his self-hating-nerd quotient of the day, just like Alex Nazaryan and his bizarre livechat rambling about how only spoiled people are served by bicycle safety), is awfully quiet this week on the news that the NYPD put more time into snooping on a manslaugher victim’s family than they did investigating the video-documented hit-and-run incident that killed the victim. Again, there’s a huge story there that the Times is ignoring while the non-credentialed Streetsblog and Gothamist break weekly news about the motivation-deprived corruption of the NYPD. Well, the NYPD aren’t the only ones who are institutionally lazy, it seems.
