Can’t wait to start a “this thing looks like that thing” blog where all the posts are a (large) collection of Instagram photos coincidentally taken from the exact same spot. Oh look, it’s some interesting graffiti on Prince Street x 1000.
Why I Really Don't Want To Hear About The Rally...
First off, safe travels and have a good time to everyone who attends, because it’ll be more of a field day than a solidarity movement.
So, why I care not to hear a ton of media coverage about it:
1. Nothing’s Going To Happen. A couple of comedians are going to hold court over thousands of young smug liberals. It’s basically going to be the warmup act to Obama’s...
Ok, I’m not crazy then. It’s a dick move.

Holy crap.
(via kmaverick)
Crap is right! Normally we’d be talking about how this is a positive development for drop.io… but they’re shutting it down. And all the existing account users have to pack and leave by Dec 15th. Ummm, what?
Most often in a move like this (where the buyer intends to keep offering the same service), the “old” service stays...

Wait, Alec Baldwin Used To Be Box Office Poison?
This question always upsets me. Enrages me even! Did irony ‘live’? I argue that...
– FUUUUUUUUU. I think he just killed that question forever, or until the next convenient historial marker. (via fimoculous)
I’m just going to save this somewhere and send it out the next time the question comes up. (via spiers)
PAPA!!!!
File this away under clumsy social media strategies: Metromix New York wrote a post - a slideshow! - about the Underworld concert last night, and then meticulously posted on (or dispatched a posting bot upon) their Twitter account to send an @ reply to every Foursquare user who checked in last night. The result is a Twitter feed fouled with 45 repeated posts. And the slideshow was shitty, too....
Another one. (Yes I’m playing with my video options. YouTube is less fuss but Vimeo is better quality, it seems)

While I’m bruising egos:
1. Flickr has been too easy of a whipping boy around these parts, but I did realize one thing the other day while bit.ly’s fate was up-in-the-air: for three years, I posted a library of photos on Flickr and shared them with other blogs. For four years, I paid the Flickr Pro fee (almost $100 over time) to keep all those photos hosted. Last year I stopped paying...

– Digg: A Cautionary Tale for Web 2.0 Companies (via courtenaybird)
The big lesson of Digg may be simply this: if someone offers you a ridiculous amount of money for a company that wasn’t that hard to build, don’t think twice. Take the money and run.

2. This is why I avoid...

(Kinda) OH: “You know when Brian will calm down? When he’s DEAD.”
Give the AL trophy to Cliff Lee. Nolan Ryan just bought the team three weeks ago. It’s like giving Bob Iger an Oscar for Snow White.

I can’t get over this headline. Seriously, read it once, come back in three hours, and realize how groan-worthy it is.

Leading with priorities. We just scraped the dead body off the road, so now we can get back to the important business of TRAFFIC.

I’m committed to volunteering on Saturday in Brooklyn. I didn’t forget.
Oh, is that at the same time that I’m doing NYCares day in Harlem? I didn’t forget that, either.
I just realized I’m committed to a bike ride on Sunday in the Bronx.
